Renowned VW collector, Russell Ritchie, dropped us a line to ask if we could help him locate the ex-Ritchie King custom Karmann Ghia. Now there were a few to choose from, but the one he’s after is the red ’65 convertible that was pictured in Issue 1 of VolksWorld and shown in Colin Burnham’s Air-Cooled Volkswagens book with ‘Silly’ Sid Salisbury jumping over it at North Weald in 1985.

The car was owned by Jonathan Willicombe until 1999-ish and, while we’ve heard rumours it was last seen in the Bristol area, the trail has gone cold.

The car now has a correct, age-related number plate of KBD 71C and was definitely taxed and registered until around 2000, but it’s clearly not been on the road for some time now.
