VW fans of a certain age will no doubt recall the tales in the press from the 1970s and ’80s of a ’53 Zwitter Beetle known as ‘Rattletrap’, which had famously covered more than 1.4 million kms. The car appeared in many publications at the time, but was then stored away and all but forgotten about, until just recently.

Sadly, the current owner is suffering from ill health and has decided to part with the car, which was last run around three years ago. It will need some tidying and re-commissioning work but, if you’re in the market for a piece of high-mileage history (and have £30k to spare), you can find the advert on the Car and Classic website here: www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1327457
