These newly reproduced drainage trays replace the originals and are supplied complete with drainage pipes.

In the early years convertible Volkswagens were equipped with cooling slots in the engine lid. This was necessary because when the convertible top was folded down the cooling slots under the rear window would be covered, obstructing the engine cooling.

To prevent rain entering the engine compartment, the engine lid was fitted with drainage trays which collected the water and fed it through pipes to the bottom of the lid, where it could leave the engine compartment. If you are restoring a convertible Volkswagen, you may find that the drainage trays are damaged by rust. Now, you can just replace them!
